Welcome. We are a small group of individuals attempting to bring one
or several Smithsonian museums to Southern California. The Smithsonian
Institution is the world's largest museum complex and research organization.
Composed of 16 museums and the National Zoo in the Washington, D.C.,
metropolitan area, and an additional 2 museums in New York City. The
Smithsonian's exhibits offer visitors a glimpse into its vast collection
numbering over 142 million objects. The Smithsonian represents many
of the treasured icons of our past, the vibrant art of the present,
and the scientific promise of the future.
Currently
the Smithsonian displays less than 25 % of the objects they have in
their collection. The rest are stored in warehouses and are rotated
occasionally. We believe its a travesty that people must travel to the
east coast to view our nation's treasures. We would like to open one
or more Smithsonian Institutes on the west coast, preffably in Southern
California. Since we are already at a huge tourist mecca, it would give
visitors another great reason to visit our area and be a great educational
tool for our children.
